No One Gave Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla A Chance - Timawus Mathias

Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs. ~ Farrah Gray

Don't ask the secret of the man. The secret IS the man himself. We tend to ask of a man who achieves his goals and satisfies our aspirations - what is his secret? The secret of how he gets things done is the man himself. Man succeeds as he desires. Conversely, the secret of the men who performed poorly lies in the men themselves.

No one gave Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla a chance when he won his election to be the Governor of Adamawa State. Indeed, many did not bet on him winning. His success at the polls as we now see was due to the leverage of the homefront APC in a three-way struggle with Nyako and Turaki Atiku as the other two. Bindow leaning towards the Turaki camp delivered the victory.

Hi detractors called him digital. They called his promises lies. His trustworthiness was disputed. On arrival agents of discord attempted to torpedo his regime by sowing confusion with the legislature. Stories of profligacy rented the air and the media platform of the Administration was not yet in place. Anyone looking in from outside must have feared Bindow's capacity to stand the fiery rockets being hurled at him.

I believed then that having been constitutionally pronounced Governor, he deserved a chance to even make a move. I elected to counter the negative media myself holding only on to the beacon of truth and fairness. I sought truth and turned my social media platforms into a battle ground to counter the amount of disinformation being dished out. I struggled successfully to determine the global perception of events in Yola, aiming at the Editorial desks of many national newspapers. My updates debunked all misconceptions. It was a risky gamble.

I am vindicated. Bindow has defied all odds to successfully redeem Adamawa State from its decadence. The suburbs of Yola Town, Jimeta Metropolitan, Shinko Nasarawo, Demsawo, Church Street, Damilu, Jambutu Wauru Jabbe Yolde Pate have all taken new looks with first class drainages and street lighting. Thousands of angels of the devil can scream their heads off and it won't matter a bit. In one year Governor Bindow has more than made the mark. Mubi, Shelleng-Kiri, Numan, and Ganye are currently receiving fair share of attention in roads development.

I do not believe in spreading development thin in the face of limited resources. I think it apt that Governor Bindow took on the roads infrastructure head on and concentrated efforts there. It is possible to now ease into other critical sectors, namely health care delivery, education, and housing. I think it apt that he did not attempt significantly impacting each Local Government, but carefully selecting politically disadvantaged areas and ensuring constituency assuage.

He does have secrets. Where is he getting his development funding? Methinks the secret is merely that he us using funds to develop in a different kind of way. More fundamentally is that he has a clear vision focus even in his care free approach to Governance. The carefree attitude has endeared him to the now united masses to the chagrin of our uppity elite. He has battled the old Adamawa decadence of ethnicity and religious bigotry to the ground. He makes no pretensions about it. You can not determine religious or ethnic preferences of Governor Bindow and hence can not play up those sentiments for clandestine aims. He has managed to keep a low profile as example - you can't accuse the Administration of profligacy. Neither Bindow nor his Legislature or his Executive are engaged in any visible consumption - our hard times are laterally touching all, and this says a lot. It has augured well for the political stability of the land.

OK. Accuse the group of often voicing angry outbursts, but who wouldn't when Abuja chokes you so hard? And you know you can do it!!!

The salary hang over is troubling. I doff my heart to workers for persevering and appreciating the hard stance of Governor Bindow against being stampeded into sustaining the scandalous scam that salary payments in Adamawa had become. We were just stealing! It has paid off. The forensic audit has made impact saving a whopping N418,000 ojoro. I dare say the backlog is much less than what the Bindow Government inherited and took off with.

As we live daily closer to December, a Supreme Court decision hangs over the State like the sword of Damocles. It is going to cut both ways when it swings and whichever way it swings is not for commentary. I am assured that "there is God in heaven who rules the affairs of mankind on earth". He will not give stone to His children praying for bread. when he won his election to be the Governor of Adamawa State. Indeed, many did not bet on him winning.
