The Northern part of Nigeria remains an embarrassing example of how illiteracy causes societal degradation. Beginning to recount the woeful indices of poor human development that seem to be synonymous with the the 'North' is an exercise in futility.

It is thus no wonder that today we have a plethora of social ills permanently camped amidst us pushing and pulling us into an abyss of annihilation. And the disheartening thing is that there does not seem to be a conscious and sincere effort of tackling these existential threats.

We are perishing! We are disintegrating! We are consuming ourselves! Wallahi! Wallahi! Wallahi! What is happening is the consequences of our collective irresponsibility. It is suicidal! We cannot continue like this.

(Verily we belong to Allah and truly to Him shall we return. O Allah! Protect us in this calamity that has befallen us and replace it with something better).
