Former Vice President and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has called on the people of Adamawa to give Governor Muhammad Umar Jubrilla Bindow a second term for continous development in the State.
Atiku made the call at the flag-off of the construction of Girei-Pariya-Wuro Bokki phase 1 road at Girei, Thursday.
According to the Turakin Adamawa, Bindow has done so well for the state in terms of infrastructural advancement and human development as such the people owe the governor a second term in office.
"During the campaign days the people of Adamawa asked Bindow to build roads for them to ease their commercial and agricultural activities. The governor has kept to his promise and he is doing just that, so it's only appreciative if the people reward him with a second term".
"The importance of roads to development of any state cannot be overemphasised. Therefore, I am happy to reconcile my difference with Bindow because he is truly working and developing the state".
Atiku stated that he has no desire more than to see a well developed Adamawa state and the three times he contested gubernatorial election in the past was to make Adamawa a better place not for any personal gain.
The APC chieftain then thanked Governor Bindow for the good work and commended him for ignoring his unfair critics and focusing on good governance.
He then urged the people to continue to support the governor and congratulated the people of Girei and Fufore for the economically beneficial road project.
On his part, the state governor, Senator Muhammad Jubrilla commended President Buhari for bringing back peace and harmony to the Nigeria and especially the Northeast.
"It is by the will of Allah and good leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for securing the nation that we sit here and flag-off this roads and do many more progressive projects".
"May Allah continue to give him the strength and foresight to do well for the country. It has been an honour having him as our president".
Bindow thanked the Turakin Adamawa for his support and fatherly guidance and revealed that the elder statesman has never asked him for any favour but always urged him to work for the people.
The governor then called on the people to come together as one unifying force and help him give Adamawa many more dividends of democracy.
"This government is a government of the people and anybody fighting this government is fighting the people of Adamawa and their progress", he concluded.
Speaking earlier, the commissioner for works, Barrister Lillian Stephen Nabe stated that the road projects are divided into two phases with the first phase of Girei-Pariya-Wuro Bokki of 27.5km due for completion in two years.
She added that the next phase of the project which runs through Malabo-Bagale to the Cameroonian border will start next year making it a total 52km.
Also speaking, the representative of the construction company, Raycon, thanked the governor for trusting them with such an important project and pledged to complete the road at the scheduled time.
