Panel Beating The Change Mantra Team For Effective Service Delivery

By Fenny J. Fwa
We are in government that promises to do things differently. I'm not disputing that. As a student of modern governance, there are certain things a government that is a changed agent ought to do and I need to remind them they are not doing them.

It's expected that in the first hundred days, a report of their efforts ought to have been presented to the general public, especially the electorates that voted for them to effect the changes. The need to tell them how far they have gone in terms of executing the agenda that they voted them for.

Again a year after that was 29th May 2016 when they clocked one year in office , we were expecting comprehensive report of the journey so far.

What we were expecting them to tell us first all is the detail of the state of our finances. How much they have received and how much they have spent.

Similarly we were expecting them to intimate us on the old and new projects that are being executed: prospects and problems.

Furthermore, one of the social ills we voted for them to subdue was corruption which has been their number one priority in terms of execution . What are the prospects and problems so far.

I know a Lot political pundits are disappointed with the performance of PMB so far and I'm not left out. But that is not say I have not noticed some positives and these are the areas this regime would have highlighted and further express the obstacle they are facing, but keeping mute and only complaining about the economic quagmire the outgone regime had put them in is irritating to the general public.

If i were their image maker, I will accept to the generality of the people that they have been suffering and that even PMB had acknowledged that and even apologized. But I expected them to say that despite economic melt down we have found ourselves, these are the positives. Our anti corruption stance is yielding results as we have so far recovered so so amount and concerned efforts are being made to recovered more. We have our some obstacles which are man made, especially the lack of cooperation and assistance expected from govt agencies, the judiciary and others. Very soon we shall get on top of the situation. Meanwhile we are working tirelessly to get the constitution amended for the purpose of creating special courts specifically designated to handled corruption cases. These are my thoughts and expect them do something like this.

On our finances we are diversifying other sources of revenues beside oil, Particularly in solid minerals and agricultural sectors and these are the efforts we have made. At this point, the ministers of solid minerals and agriculture will take over and explained further.

On other sources of revenue in terms of diversification, the FiRS and custom and are doing marvelous jobs. The customs have plucked loopholes, leakages and have increased revenue from that sector. Similarly, FiRS have also been putting extra efforts to rake in revenues through plucking of loopholes and introducing new areas of taxation. Minister of finance will now invite FiRS and Custom bosses to make further elaborations.
The minister of finance will now take a complete day to graphically drum the monumental achievement in TSA which had raked in so far the sum about N4.3 trillion. She must make proposal to govt on how the TSA money will be used to grow the economy and thereafter fast track the release of the funds for purposes meant. Similarly she would have to explain to the nation how the about $30b to be borrowed will be utilized with details. In fact the only way they can convinced Nigerians is that the funds will be tied to projects that will be pay for the loan and not social services. projects that will pay for such loans are heavy investment in Agriculture, power supply, reconstruction of old sea and airports and construction of new ones, Investment in rail transport which is a potential major revenue earner.

Not withstanding the minuses of these regimes, we have seen massive reconstruction of roads in the six geopolitical zones. The rehabilitation of Numan- Gombe high way, the Kano- Maiduguri roads are in top gear. The ABJ- Lokoja has come back to life. I have seen photos of the rehabilitation some roads in the South East and South West. I expect the minister of Works to dedicate some time to brief the nation on these efforts

I have not heard anything in the 2 critical sectors of health and education. Definitely the man in the ministry of education is a misnomer and shouldn't have been there in the first place. But they ought to brief us what they have done so far. It's really surprising that not much is not heard about the efforts in the health delivery. Does it mean nothing is being done in such a critical sector. May be my FB friend in this sector Dr Nura Alkali knows much on this we will appreciate if he can educate us. Because of inactivity in that sector, I don't even know the name of the minister in ministry of health.

I'm sorry this is how I think modern government is being ran. And this should be the responsibility of minister of information who will coordinate the activities of the respective MDAS and not the ill digested change begins with you or that PDP messed up this country. We know that was why they were sent parking. You have been voted to fix the mess and not to lament.

We need action and adequate briefing on the efforts of government in cleaning the Augean stable. The ineffectiveness of the managers of government to work extra hard to give this government a comprehensive direction and the lack lustre performances of these managers have portrayed government in bad light and the generality of the public don't even know the little efforts being made that could have impacted minimally in the lives of the people and in the long ran could impact maximumly.

Lai Mohamed wake up. PMB get a kitchen cabinet of highly knowledgeable, honest vibrant, young, innovative and experienced people to get these things done. The economic team that could have assisted the president do something different is virtually non existence and the one that is on board is composed mostly of non professionals and where some few professionals are involved, they are novice for instance the engine room of the economy ie the minister of finance. Some urgent steps need to be taken to totally penal beat the PMB team that looks like a reserve team that is match rusty.
