Submit To Your Oppressor

She was very depressed, moved swiftly to the restroom, shut herself in there and cried in the closet, 'nobody understands what I'm going through in the hands of this woman', she spoke to herself for a while with tears all over her face, then summoned up courage to go back to her desk. This was the fourth time today that she resorted to the restroom as her prayer closet, She wiped those tears away with some courage, almost at her desk, she heard her name loudly being called by her boss, Ms Sarah Braham, who then threw a file at her and barked at her to pick the documents up or resign from the organization.

The Managing Director called Ms Sarah and asked what the problem was, she mentioned that since she recommended Mrs Hannah Adora for promotion, she has been very disrespectful to her even though she was her direct boss but because she had access to the MD, Hannah had become very saucy. The MD told Ms Sarah Braham to take things easy but would still accept any decision she took ultimately on Mrs Adora's case. Mrs Hannah Adora was gutted by the position of the MD, and felt unloved even after the MD knew for a fact that she was going through her persecution purely because of the deposits that came through her after only working for a few years compared with the 'founding' director, Ms Sarah Braham who couldn't bring such a heavy deposit to the bank.

She quickly tendered her resignation from the bank and packed her stuff into her car. She went straight to church for prayers and comfort of scriptures. The pastor in prayers added to Mrs Adora, Hannah's depression when he said God told him to tell her to go back to the office and SUBMIT TO THE OPPRESSOR. 'This can't be God, Pastor must be thinking of my tithes, God won't ask me to go to the Oppressor, God told Moses to take Israel out of the oppression of Egypt...’ she muttered to herself. She couldn't understand why God would send her pastor to tell her to go and Submit to her oppressor. This is and can't be God.
I know you might quickly want to agree with Mrs Hannah Adora but just before you rush into conclusions, let me tell you that this story is found in the bible that it was God that sent the pastor to her. That is to say that walking with God has to be a deliberate decision to obey Him at all times. The story is found in Gen 16 v 6-9:

"But Abram said to Sarai, behold thy maid is in thy hands: do to her as it pleases you. And when Sarai DEALT HARDLY (oppressed) with her, she fled (resigned) from her face. And the angel of the Lord found her by a Fountain of water in the wilderness ...and he said Hagar, Sarai's maid, where are you coming from and where Are you going, she said I fled (resigned) from my mistress Sarai. And the Angel of the Lord said to her, 'return to thy mistress and SUBMIT THYSELF UNDER HER HANDS...'

Amazing story of fortitude and obedience. She really went back and submitted to her boss. Thereafter God blessed her mightily in His time. Let me explain the story below through the characters with the morals of the story as well.

MS SARAH BRAHAM: This is Sarah, Abraham's wife that gave her maid to the father of faith while looking for a child, she got very jealous when Hagar started to taunt her after she had a child that she was looking for. Reported the matter to her husband, seeking permission to handle the matter, her request was granted and she 'dealt hardly' with Hagar, yet God strangely didn't rebuke her for this action.

MRS HANNAH ADORA: This is our main character today, she is a type of person who was favoured by her boss and became fruitful by divine providence but then started to despise the person that God used to lift her up to that prominent position she never expected would be hers. Hoping to get support from the MD which didn’t come, she then resorted to resignation from the place until God told her to go back and SUBMIT TO THE OPPRESSOR. Many of us are like Hagar, when God helps us through people that we may be bigger than, we then despise those that God used in our lives because they aren't as prosperous as us and fruitful in certain areas.

MD: This is our patriarch of faith, Abraham. Who acted well by giving power to Sarah and not supporting insubordination because of fruitfulness. Most leaders today will not do the same but are likely going to encourage dissent and even Retire Sarah rather than ask Hagar to Resign. Early Retirement will be on the cards than Resignation of a productive staff.

PASTOR: This is the Angel that met Hagar and told her to go back to her Mistress. As far as God is concerned, she was known and called ‘Hagar, Sarai's mistress…’ meaning God didn't approve the resignation even though there was oppression. We should salute Hagar who had a pastor in her life and obeyed the voice of the Angel. Most people today ignore the voice of their pastors unlike Hagar. Many pastors today should learn from the Angel to do the will of God as most of them will make emotional decisions and not spiritual ones. Many pastors may not ask God what to say but may just make emotional conclusions based on 'human rights', and tell the lady to resign, while other pastors will resort to dangerous prayers, asking the enemy to FALL DOWN AND DIE...

I hope you have been inspired by my thoughts today.
