Let SLS Head The Economic Team

Fellow Nigerians the times are bad. Our economy is experiencing its worse bashing since its existence. Our currency has become a useless medium of exchange. The high rate of Inflation has become unbearable. Poverty has become so pervasive that the generality of the people are living from hand to mouth. We are in extraordinary times which require extraordinary solutions.

We are therefore pleading with PMB to, as soon he comes back, look for ways and means of fixing the economy. We therefore require shakers and movers in the system to fix the economy. Please in doing this, the president should set aside the so called party loyalists, friends and associates and go for the best brains in the system, including his critics.

What of making SLS( Emir of Kano) the Chairman of the economic team. This man has been in the system as a CEO of first generation bank and was the governor of CBN. He will not therefore going to be a novice in the system. The attraction is he is critical of the corruption that is embedded in our economy and had cried foul even when he was CBN gov and that cost him his lucrative job. Despite being supportive of this regime, he has been consistent in his criticism of its flip flop economic policies, especially the corruption that goes on in the management of FOREX. He should therefore be brought on board as chairman of the economic team in order to put in place his vision of a workable economy.

Iam a fan of Pat Atomi, the COE of Lagos business school. He has been consistent in his admonition of GEJ's as well as PMB's economic policies. His is very brilliant and pragmatic. Oby Exekwessi is one of the most intelligent Nigerians I have known. I have read a lot of papers she had authored. Despite my penchant for critical assessment of people, I always find her write ups scholarly, feasible and far reaching. Her work as the OBJ OC of due process endeared her to me and several other Nigerians. She is very bold and courageous. She is a rare gem because of the courageous and incisive manner she lampoons these govt economic policies and also based on EL Rufai's assessment of her character in his book "accidental public servant" as one of the most principled aides of OBJ that could face OBJ and condemn any of his actions. El Rufai credited her for being one of the loudest critic of the third misadventure. You need such people in your government to frankly show your shortcomings, devoid sycophancy and praise singing. Pat and Oby should therefore be included in the team.

Then we need to include in the team the duo of our most successful business men in Nigeria namely Dangote, Adenuga of glo and other possible captains of industries and commerce. Then some egg heads in the academic community covering Economics, Engineering, Agriculture and medicine.

We also the need the services of relevant MDAS in the team, especially ministers of Finance, budget, planning, transport, Agriculture and power.

PMB please try taking some bold, extraordinary and far reaching approaches to the monumental problems facing us or this politicians and close associates that are short in ideas, but tall in shortchanging the people, will mess your hard earned reputation built over the years.
