During my recent trip to the Maiduguri Farm Centre, I was totally dump founded at the gigantic investment made by the Borno state Government under the the Administration of Hon Kashim Shettima. The Jain Green House, Microclimatic - temperature and humidity regulated Vacuum the simulates Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR), which is the largest in the whole of North East, is equipped with the Galkon Meteorological station which overlooks upto -100 Irrigation Head by mapping the demographic view of the climate of the fields. The Galkon can serve not only the Agricultural fields, but the whole of Borno state and the neighbouring states according to my Guide. Also in the setup is the Boomer Fertiliser distribution system, Urbaniti Seeder and Corcoe Pit planting Medium. The green House is equipped with all that is required for both research and mass production of crops both regularly and unregularly cultivated in this part of the country.
On the other hand, the Agrom Net-House, which serves as medium for both research and growing plant with a speedy yielding , especially in a climatic conditions with high Meteor Data period that ranges from late February to to April in Borno, is well equipped with pressure release valve, computerised irrigation network and the nessary flowers to attract pointing insects already boosts of Hundreds of Tons of Pepper, Cherry Tomatoes, Normal Egyptian Varieties.
To top the icing on the the cake is the provision of Factory with full equipment for the production of all necessary tools used in the field. This means everything thing is produced in house. To our amazement, the workers in factory eagerly demostrated how the machines worked and produced some drip sprinklers at the time of our visit.
I'm sure that with such a facility in the state, with the commitment of our Governor, I believe that Borno is not only going to be the Agricultural giant in the country, but the food Basket of the nation. These faticilities shall surely provide the best avenue for both our Institutions of higher learning and private companies in the country to harnessing and transform the Agricultural potentials of our dear state and Nation at large.
